Lot #184: HAYDN, JOSEPH "THE CREATION, AN ORATORIO" LONDON (1801). ADAPTED FOR VOICES AND PIANO FORTE BY MUZIO CLEMENTI.
Engraved title and 200 pages of engraved music and lyrics. The first edition of Haydn's magnum opus had a very poor English translation. Clementi's version though not perfect, was the first attempt at making "English" sense. Bound in contemporary 1/4 leather over marbled boards. Binding shabby, front board separated. Internally fine.
