Tàpies first exhibited his work in 1950. Since then, he has been the subject of major solo exhibitions and retrospectives at the Guggenheim Museum, New York (1962 & 1995) and in 1992, MOMA, New York exhibited the show "Antoni Tàpies in Print" which then traveled to Miami, Detroit and Caracas. Tàpies participated in 3 Venice Biennali prior to being selected to represent Spain in 1993 when he was presented with the Award for Painting. There is an exhibit of his current paintings at Pace Wildenstein on view until June 30, 2006.

His work was shown at many galleries & museums around the world including the Whitney, MoMA and the Albright-Knox. Anya von Gössein, Ireland sells his work.
