Watercolor, 28 1/ x 40 in. (sight), 40 1/2 x 52 x 2 in. (frame).
Note: Lewis & Allenby were "Cloakmakers to the Queen (Victoria)." They were silk merchants with a following of the upper realm of London society for their printed and woven fabrics. The Conduit St. building was their warehouse which has been converted to offices. They also had a shop at 193-197 Regent St.

34 5/8 x 40 3/4 in. (sight), 47 x 54 1/4 x 2 in. (frame), dated 1926.
Note: D.H. Burnham outlived his partner Root with whom he pioneered early skyscraper designs in the late 19th c. As DH Burnham & Co, he was responsible for famous landmarks such as the Flatiron Building in NYC. He was also a co-author of the Plan of Chicago, a great influence on the city's design including the boulevards and lakefront parks.
