Pencil on paper, 9 x 12 in. (sight), signed, inscribed and dated lower right, Narobi 1926/W.R. Leigh, and inscribed on verso, Mason. Provenance: from the collection of the artist Fred Mason. Note: Leigh was commissioned by the American Museum of Natural History to visit Africa with Carl Akeley and then paint the backgrounds for the Museum's African Hall. It is possible that this is one of his preliminary sketches from that trip.
