Lot #19: AMERICAN SILKWORK MOURNING PICTURE
Worked as a church yard with willow tree flanking a weeping maiden beside a monument with urn inscribed "Memento Mori" above, "To the Memory of Capt. Thos. Chandler, who was lost at sea, January 1825. Aged 55 years. Capt. James Peterson who died January 22nd 1825 aged 34 years. John J. Peterson, died May 8th, 1825. Aged 18 months." The black oval matte inscribed in gold, "Wrought by Matilda Chandler of Duxbury, AE: 13, 1814."
