Correspondence relating to piracy of "Ulysses" by
Samuel Rath in his magazine "Two Worlds." Correspondence
in chronological order: (1) "New York Evening Post" -
two copies of typed story - 11/1/1926 - outlines the accusations
against Rath and his denial of the Piracy. (2) 11/16/26 -
Two copies of Cable from Sylvia Beach (one on "Shakespeare
and Company" letterhead - three lines referencing newspaper
articles - Rath's publication of Ulysses "is unauthorized
unpaid for and the text has been altered." (3) Sylvia
Beach - TLS - 12/18/26 - Two pp on "Shakespeare and
Company" letterhead - vehement attack on Rath. Mentions
a contact between Ernest Hemingway with Rath. Signed - "Sylvia
Beach - Publisher of 'Ulysses." Also included is an
envelope in Beach's hand from S.S. Mauritania addressed to
Lloyd Morris.
