#70: (MANUSCRIPT) COOLIDGE, CALVIN, AUTOGRAPH
MANUSCRIPTS - "ENEMIES OF THE REPUBLIC" - A THREE PART SERIES
PUBLISHED IN THE "DELINEATOR" - SUMMER OF 1921
In these articles Coolidge attempted to prove that many professors
at U.S. Women's Colleges were disseminating communist propaganda.
Many critics said the incidents in the article were distorted,

articles, each approximately 40 pages. (2) Correspondence
related to the articles: (a) 7 ALS's from Coolidge. (b) 6
TLS's from Coolidge. (c) 1 ANS from Coolidge - stating that
proposed Title "Are Reds Stalking College Girls?" may
offend women. (d) Telegrams and other material, mainly about
Burgess Johnson of Vassar, the principal attacker. He questioned
the authorship of the articles and threatened to sue. (e)
Silver Print of Coolidge - inscribed. Housed in a 1/2 morocco
slipcase.
