First American Comic Book appeared as Extra No. 1X, of "Brother Jonathan," a New York newspaper. The piece originated as Rudolph Topffer's "Historie de Mr. Vieux Bois." Some sources say only 12 copies are extant. Generally foxed. Title page chipped; last leaf chipped with loss; other marginal chips. Bound in 1/2 morocco over cloth boards.

Binding - Hand woven textile binding by Sara Dochaw. Shades of purple and dark blue. Reflective threads with multi colored designs woven in. A beautiful production housed in a clam shell box.
