Leslie and Parry, Philadelphia; the 13 in. painted brass dial, pierced with calendar crescent and 2 keywind apertures, beneath phases-of-the-moon dial, the ringing movement with anchor escarpment, the swans neck hood with brass rondels and finial, above free-standing colonettes, the truck door with notched upper corners, flanked by 1/4-round fluted pilasters, the base on bracket feet; 8 ft. 1/4 in. x 20 x 10 3/4 in. The hinged top with bowed breakarch ends, opening to green baize-lined hinged writing panel and 2 d-shape hinged flaps, above a frieze drawer with brass pulls and pleated silk basket, the urn-form pedestal on quadruple down swept leaf and reeded legs ending in brass box casters; 30 1/2 x 24 x 12 1/2 in.

Lot #814: PHILADELPHIA FEDERAL INLAID MAHOGANY SLANT-FRONT DESK
The flap with line inlay in shield-shape escutcheon opening to mirror-backed central recess with rosette stenciled floor and ivory-painted colonettes, flanked by satinwood drawers, arched cubbyholes and faux leather spined document drawers, above 4 cock-beaded drawers with brass oval drop handled, on splayed bracket feet, the backboard veneered and finished; 45 x 42 x 22 3/4 in. Note: This desk is very similar to one signed "John Eisenbrag, 1794 Maker," illustrated in Florene Maine's advertisement in Antiques Magazine, December 1969, this desk descends from the estate of John Frederick Lewis, a German family with surname of Ludwig, which was anglicised to Lewis. They originally settled in Lancaster then moved to Philadelphia and where eminent in the field of law for many generations. Provenance: R. T. Trump & Co., Philadelphia.
