Lot #941: LEE MOOREHOUSE: "THE CAYUSE TWINS"
Photogravure on paper, each 7 x 5 in. and each captioned in the image: copyrighted 1898/Lee Moorehouse [sic]. Note: The Cayuse territory is in northern Oregon. Moorhouse, an Oregon pioneer, was Indian agent on the Umatilla Reservation from 1889-1891. In the 1897 he began photographing members of the Umatilla, Cayuse & Walla Walla tribes.

The larger "Wrought by Phoebe P. Swain, New Bedford July 9th 1827 Aged 8 years," with 3 registers and 2 poems, later silvered wood frame, the other by "Lucy Anne Kingsbury Aged 18 Sept. 17 1817" with 3 registers and a saying, later frame; 13 x 19 in. and 9 3/4 x 12 in.
