Oil on canvas, relined, 30 1/2 x 25 1/4 in., unsigned. The sitter of this picture is holding a copy of The Watchman. The Watchman was started in 1835 by John Harmon in Ravenna, Ohio, so it could possibly his portrait or perhaps it is the likeness of the publisher of the Circleville, Ohio Watchman which was published from 1825-1826.
