Lot #184: BRIGID BERLIN (AMERICAN, b. 1939): KNIFE, GLOVE, CAP AND 911
Mixed media on paper, signed and dated '96 lower right, matted and framed; 7 1/4 x 10 5/8 in. to 13 1/4 x 16 3/4 in. (sight). These works were inspired by the O.J. Simpson murder trial, covered by Mr. Dunne. Berlin met Andy Warhol in 1964 and became part of his entourage. She is said to have helped influence his art through her own photography, paintings, and performance art. Her "Tit Paintings", as these were called, were created by her dipping her breasts in colored paints and pressing them to canvas or paper. They are arguably her most famous works and have been exhibited in galleries on Madison Avenue in New York.
