A
collection of correspondence by several important twentieth-century
British writers with fair copies of two of Padraic Colum's
poems. The postcard written by e.e. cummings is a birthday
wish written and addressed in orange and blue crayons. The
letter by Padraic Colum includes two versions of a poem entitled "Encounters
in a Garden" and also includes the poem "Hyacinths".
The writer suggests that Mr. Russell seek out the Gotham
Book Mart, where Colum feels that Mr. Russell's work NINE
will be marketable. A postscript in Colum's own hand mentions
a teaching post and writing, "I am writing the biography
of Arthur Griffith, which is being serialized, and any time
I'm not writing it I am reading for it." The letter
by Christopher Fry is full of warmth as the writer explains
that he is stranded in the country at this cottage without
his car or address book. He mentions enjoying a book and
postcard sent by the recipient and hopes that he can find
a way to the post office to send the current letter.

and literary periodical. Aubrey Beardsley was the art director

are uniformally faded. Boards are generally bright with a
few minor flaws. Internally fine.
