Lot #212: CARVED PAINTED WOOD BUST PORTRAIT OF GENERAL PATTON, BY ARMAND LA MONTAGNE (b. 1939)
In uniform with helmet, the shirt collar with silver stars, impressed signature & inscribed R.I. 1983, rectangular ebonized base. Note: Armand La Montagne, a self-taught carver, was commissioned to sculpt a life-sized statue of General Patton. It was presented to the US Army Armor Center and Patton Museum in an acceptance ceremony on May 8, 1984. La Montagne based the physical dimesions of the sculpture on Patton's Army physical done in 1944. 23 in. x 17 in.
