Americana

Our August 4 sale of Americana, decorative, folk and fine art provides an opportunity to experience a variety of categories anchored around collecting traditions in America. Through furniture, fine art and objects, this sale tells the story of American Life from the 18th century to the present and illustrates the important connections with our English and European roots. We are featuring stately portraits and landscapes, a curated selection of tables, chairs and decorations including makers such as Herter Brothers alongside high quality Federal Furniture. Chinese Export porcelain provides an insight into the desire to display wealth and status with exotic eastern wares. Folk art and duck decoys give the sale an eclectic feel when paired with design from the Aesthetic Movement. A strong selection of Silver is also on offer with pieces by Tiffany, Gorham and many more.

We are pleased to offer property from Cheekwood Botanical Garden & Museum of Art, Nashville, TN, Hope Davis Fine Art, Great Barrington, MA, Ambassador and Mrs. Joseph Verner Reed, the estate of Frederick J. Emmerich, the estate of David Kleinberg, the collection of Mrs. James Gallatin, and the collection of Philip MacTaggert.
