When can I preview?
Approximately ten days prior to the sale date, the gallery exhibition is open for preview, and an illustrated catalogue is made available online.
Do you offer condition reports?
We are happy to offer condition reports on lots where practical. Please understand that these reports are generally subjective and examining an object in person is always preferable.
How may I bid on an item?
There are many ways to bid at our auctions: whether by paddle, phone, mouse, or pen, we strive to make your access to bidding at Stair Galleries as convenient for you as possible.

In Person

We are so pleased when you are able to attend the auction at our gallery in Hudson.  We advise you arrive at one half hour prior to the auction to register at the front desk.  For first time bidders at Stair Galleries, have your license or photo ID at the ready.

Absentee Bidding

If you are unable to attend the auction in person, you may leave an absentee bid. Absentee bids are executed competitively on your behalf. The earliest received bid will take precedence in the case of a tie. Go to the Absentee/Phone Bid Form page to register for absentee bids. You may also print the Absentee/Phone Bid Form and fax to 518-751-1010, or bring the printed form to the front desk at the gallery.

Live Online

From a world away, you may attend and bid at our auction live online either through www.invaluable.com or www.bidsquare.com.  Register to bid through Invaluable or Bidsquare until 12pm ET prior to the date of the auction.

By Phone

Due to limited phone lines, phone bidding is reserved for lots with a minimum estimated value of $500 and above. Phone bidding registration forms must be submitted no later than 12pm ET the day before the auction begins. Phone lines are reserved on a first come, first served basis. Be sure to include your primary and secondary phone numbers best to reach you during the sale. One of our phone bidding team members will call you a few lots beforehand from the auction room. Go to the Absentee/ Phone Bid Form to register for phone bids. You may also print the Absentee/Phone Bid Form and fax to 518-751-1010, or bring the printed form to the front desk at the gallery.

What shall I do if my bid is successful?
If you have attended the auction in person and have bid successfully, we require that you make your payment at the front desk the day of the auction and collect your purchased lots.  If you are a first time buyer with a purchase that exceeds the amount of $3,000, the check needs to clear before collecting the property; however if paying by credit card, the property may be collected immediately.

If you have bid by phone, online, or absentee successfully, you will receive an email notification by the following day.  Be sure to check our website during the auction as “Realized Prices” are added to the online catalogue.  Payment must be received within ten days of the sale.  Purchased lots must be collected within ten days as well.  You are responsible for contacting a shipper, if necessary.

All sales are subject to a buyer’s premium of 22%, discounted to 20% for cash or check.  Personal checks are accepted from buyers known to us.  Please read our Conditions of Sale.

All purchases are subject to sales tax, unless you have a valid tax exemption number and fill out the form required by the state.  Please fill out and submit your Resale Form prior to purchase.
