European and American Fine Art

Spanning five-hundred years of artistic achievement from the Renaissance through the Nineteenth Century, this sale offers a selection paintings, works on paper and sculpture by European and American masters,  as well as works of high quality by lesser-known artists working in a myriad of stylistic movements. Highlighting the sale are works on paper from the Estate of Emile Wolf. Mr. Wolf was a philanthropist whose collection reflects his life-long commitment to the arts. With a focus on the Old Masters, the Wolf collection also includes European drawings and watercolors from the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries,  many by French artists and works in the style of Boucher and Fragonard.  Highlights from this collection include works by Hubert Robert, Piat-Joseph Sauvage, Jean-Francois Millet, and Eugene Louis Boudin. Also included in the sale is  a group of fine marine paintings by Thomas Buttersworth, Charles Lundgren, Nicholas Condy and Samuel Walker, and a pair of bronzes by American sculptor Harriet Frishmuth.
