The Fine Sale on Thursday, May 18 at 11am
Our May Fine sale brings together an exemplary group of British, European and American fine and decorative arts that spans centuries of stylistic and aethetic movements across many collecting categories. Highlights include a Louis XVI ormolu-mounted white marble obelisk mantel clock, a rare 17th century Isfahan Polonaise rug, a large Italian Rococo giltwood mirror, and a German Rococo giltwood fauteil à la reine. A fine selection of silver is highlighted by a Victorian Paul Storr silver tureen and cover, an extensive group of silver by George Jensen, and an Art Deco tea and coffee service by Puiforcat. Fine art highlights include a lovely painting by the American expatriate artist Frederick William Macmonnies, an 18th century interior view by Hermanus Numan, and a small group of prints by George Bellows and Stow Wengenroth. Also included is a group of French and Italian 18th century works on paper, including works by Jean-Honoré Fragonard and Giovanni Benedetto Castiglione, and a rare bound manuscript by Hermann Hesse.
