The Private Collection of Jayne Wrightsman

Arts benefactor and grande dame of New York’s high society, Jayne Wrightsman’s Fifth Avenue apartment was filled with priceless paintings, rare books and her impressive collection of 18th century decorative arts, which was donated in large part to the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Decorated by Henri Samuel, Mrs. Wrightsman’s rooms were filled with pieces from Maison Jansen, fine French furnishings and the best European fine art she could acquire. Included in the sale are selections of porcelain and table objects, English and French furniture, decorations and the exquisite window treatments that graced her Fifth Avenue windows.
